One expensive help that is!

On a Sunday, a few weeks ago, Shreyu & I were in the living room, as she is working through her Aloha homework. Being a weekend, she was very reluctant to get through with it, and I was having a hard time convincing her to move on. To stress the situation a little further, the lead in her pencil broke and she was all smiles & immediately jumped from her place to ....basically jump & play, what else :). In that mood, she is definitely not going to go search for a new pencil or a sharpener. Aah, the onus of that hunt is on me now :(

Now in that moment of distress, comes a knight of honor to my rescue, my little Ishaan !! Not on a white horse but in his white underpants!! :)) He graciously volunteers to go upstairs and get a new pencil for Akka to do her homework.

10 minutes later, he comes down with a huge, victorious smile on his face, and firmly held in his grip is the prize of the war - a new pencil !! No doubt, that was my moment of rescue by my little son, and I beamed with pride to see him.

Homework gets over and after a while, I walked upstairs into the kids' room to get something. The pretty little room, especially when cleaned up, every toy & blankey in it's place, never fails to bring a smile on my face. Since I thoroughly cleaned up their room just that morning, I was walking in, looking forward to enjoy the pleasant sight once more.

Love this room way too much :)

But what awaits me there is totally something else. Something that completely threw me in shock & utter disbelief !! Nothing close to anything pleasant that I was hoping to see for! Instead, I see a huuuugggge mess on the floor!! A mess so messed up that I can't even describe.

It took a few moments to get hold of the situation. Slowly it dawned on me .....this is Ishaan's work!!This is the war zone that he so proudly returned from. Whoever the little knight fought with is unknown, but the "bloodshed" that took place is right there on the floor, staring at me.

Woah!!

2 whole boxes of art work emptied on to the floor. 2 boxes filled up with all kinds of minute pieces of crafts & art, usually tucked away under the crib, are now on the floor, belly up, with their contents, carelessly spread all across the floor. Ishaan found his piece of treasure, the pencil indeed, amongst this big pile of artwork.

"The Mess"

He did not want to take the simpler route of just picking the pencil from the pen stand in our study. No, no, no...he wanted it to make it more challenging! Drag out the boxes from under the crib, empty them, and dig it up from this miscellaneous stash. No wonder he looked so happy!! It is indeed an achievement, being able to find a little pencil from amongst that mess.

Just a small problem with that big victory - Mommy has to clean it up all over aggggain!!!

What an expensive little help that turned out to be, huh!! Next time, this 3 year old offers to help me out, I am going think twice before accepting it!!
